I found this color moon photos on Nasa’s site.
Its interesting to see how colorless moon is. What kind of light would we have got if moon was red, green or brown color. Something to think about.
How would our colonizing of the moon affect the light we would receive. Will it create shadows of the colonies on the earth during night times. Just something to think about.
Am i getting the whole sun, earth and moon relation wrong comment away.
There was a news report recently that Google is entering the 3G spectrum auction race.
Don’t dream of getting an Google connection for your mobile. All they are trying to do is what they did in the US. They bid in the 3G auction only to make it open, once they knew it would be open they withdrew from the race.
I am not saying it’s a bad thing, they are in it to just ensure that the 3G auction will be open and the carrier don’t get too much power.
Sources in the telecom industry say Google is looking at broadband wireless access, or BWA, in the country and may participate in the auction with an Indian partner. BWA is also known as Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, or WiMAX.

Recently someone asked me on twitter after my Htc Hero post. If i would recommend others buying this phone. I wanted to give him a detailed reply but on twitter you can only write so much. So here is what i think about the phone.
It is a really good phone that will cost you around 32000 Rs. So what do you get for this kind of money. A open phone with android 1.5 operating system. Here are some of the notable specs.
5 mega pixel auto focus camera, GPS, 3G and an open operating system.
It comes with ROM: 512 MB and RAM: 288 MB. So you will need a big memory card if you want to take your music and videos with you, add another 1200 Rs to the price of the phone for a 8 GB card.
So who should buy this phone.
I would recommend this phone for Internet type people. It’s so easy to get to facebook and twitter on this phone. Its even integrated into your contacts and other places on the phone.
It comes with a good browser that can show flash. It has an ever growing market place with all kind of apps.
Gaming is not height priority on this device but you can find some casual games.
So who should not buy this phone
People who watch a lot of videos and take photos with their mobile. This phone has a 5 mega pixel camera but the photos are dull and blurry. Videos play well but not many formats are supported and it takes couple of seconds to skip etc. All these feature are really noticeable when you come from an iPhone.
So if photos are videos are not your main use of phone and if you use Internet and email a lot this is the phone for you.
Unlike the iPhone this can be customised in so many ways that matches your style and use. Also all the content is right on the screen
Last but not the least the phone features it has good phone features, and the bend at the edge of the phone feels very good when you are talking on the phone.
It also has 3G so you are future proof too.
Since i gotten the phone i have been barely able to keep the phone down.

News is not what i am talking about, that’s another blog post altogether.
What i am talking about is your Tech shows like Gadget Guru, Cell Guru and Tech Toys etc.
I really want to find out about the price of gadgets and what is happening in tech industry in India.
Your shows suck at showing that information. All you have is guys who talk about anything but gadgets. Finally when they show the gadgets its like a commercial its over before you see it. They have four host to show a 20 minutes program, in that two girls.
Thank god for tata sky plus now i fast forward most of the show, like their introduction jokes etc. Out of a 21 minutes show i watch around 5 minutes of content.

Then there are show that are like infomercials. On cell guru there is a Nokia n96 widget section that i don’t understand the point of. And for the host of Cell guru you are on Tv man fix yourself up.
Even i can do better than this, if Tv guys are reading this give me a call.
Until then watching web for my gadget news.

I have seen one after the other take the iphone challenger label and fall by the way side. Its really sad to see how bad they are.
I have used most of them and i will explain how each one falls by the way side.
Nokia came up with Nokia music express which looked cool and everything but it has the same windows mobile problem. The interface was not designed for touch input. The have put a pretty layer on top of symbian and it doesn’t work that well.

The scrolling is not smooth and the rotation doesn’t work well. Even the new interface looks like it was made for stylus use and not a finger use. Its so bad that it comes with a stylus to use.
The next one is Samsung 3G

Less i say is better about this phone.
Some time a feature can be the problem of the phone. The sidebar which gets activated by just a click anywhere on the screen its a bad idea. The touch interface is either too sensitive at times and some times not sensitive enough.
There is no way to disable the sidebar so every time you move from one scree to another you end up put more widgets on to the desktop. You will end up more time cleaning the screen of widgets than actually using them.
Most of the widgets are pretty use less they are shortcuts for web sites.
Now the phones interface, scrolling some times works and some times doesn’t. The have a photo zoom feature similar to iphone. But it takes 10 times more time to get the photo to zoom on the samsung star 3G. They also have a wonky way to zoom. You have to keep a finger pressed on the screen and move it upwards to zoom. Which is really ugly to use and it takes ages to recognize the finger and start zooming.
These are the two i used, there are plenty more that are giving touch interface a bad name. So why are all these companies still imitating iphone.
Stop trying to imitate and start doing something new.
Things have to reinvented from bottom up and not the other way around.
Palm tried something similar but they never were known for their media capabilities. So don’t expect a music and video phone like the iphone from them no matter how good they get.
Same goes for Android, its a phone for geeks not casual users.
So what is the future of iphone challengers, only good one i can think of is Microsoft windows mobile. Their next version of the windows mobile will be really different and mainly touch oriented.
After looking at windows 7 i am really hoping it will give iphone something to fight against.
So the best thing for other phone companies to realize is forget touch apple, has that in their pockets already.
Aim for the next big thing and start innovating.

Want to become Eco friendly, it’s east super size everything you buy.
There are hybrid cars and electric bikes that are Eco friendly. But they are too costly or not realistically priced.
So how does the common man become Eco friendly. What ever you buy, super size it. I don’t mean fast food, but groceries and other stationary.
I will simplify it further for you with this example.
Usually I buy shampoo in small bottles, not because they are cheap but because I can try other shampoos sooner. But changing your shampoo or trying all the new stuff out there is not a good idea. So I decided to stick to one shampoo, that’s when this idea of super sizing hit me.
Now i buy the biggest shampoo i can find in the market and here is how it helps me.
Big Shampoo – 1 per year – 150 Rs – one visit to the super market.
Small Shampoo – 5 per year – 50 each x 5 = 250 Rs – five visit to the super market.
I am saving 100 Rs and the time it takes to go to super market four times. And also imagine all the plastic you will not be using. That’s four less plastic bottles in the land fill.
Its the same math with other ingredients too, like soap etc. Buy them in packs of three and four and you will save money and its Eco friendly too.
See being Eco friendly can also be good for your pocket and for the earth. You don’t have to spend huge money to be Eco friendly.
Recently both Tataindicom and Reliance launched new wireless Broadband modems in India.
Both of them are priced around 3000 Rs for the modem. Both have unlimited plans for 1000 Rs and 1500 Rs respectively.
But there is a big catch in the fine print they are limited to 10 and 15 Gb per month. After that you will be charged per Mb.
I really was looking forward to using this services even though i have two usb modems already.
But once i heard about the bandwidth limits i am not interested anymore.
Unless they offer unlimited that is unlimited in all ways, i will stick with my bsnl broadband.
TRAI you morons how can you allow companies to advertise 10 Gb capped connections as unlimited. Just because they put a fair usage clause, it doesn’t make it right.
If the limit was 150 Gb or even 100 Gb it would have been acceptable.

I am a big fan of Real Madrid football team. I didn’t start my affection for them when the galaticos came. I liked them before that, when Claude Makélélé was running the mid field for them. And Raul was the king of Spain. Every touch he took was a goal, and Roberto Carlos was taking those stunning free kicks. Then Luis Figo came and later Zidane, it was almost perfect team then. And who can forget watching and enjoying them just passing the ball around. It was magical, thats how i became their fan.
Now its seems that every player that is big come and plays and leaves the club as its some kind of bus stop. No one is staying there and there is no team building. They bring new players and hope it works and it never does.
Its sad to see them suffer like this, will they ever get back to those days. Where there were no super stars just team players. And they became famous because of their team play, now everyone plays for their own career there is no team play.
If some one at Real Madrid is listening please let these superstars go and bring in team players.
Here is my opinion of the current crop of players.
Iker Casillas – Still best goal keeper in the world for me. I don’t think anyone makes as many saves as him in a match. Buffon has a strong defense infront of him, Casillas doesn’t. Please never leave.
Míchel Salgado – Scraps for the ball and is the teams muscles should stay.
Pepe – Very good defender should stay.
Sergio Ramos – Younger Robert Carlos hits crosses like he did when he played for Real should stay.
Fabio Cannavaro – Not that impressed, wouldn’t mind if he leaves.
Marcelo – Scraps for the ball and put in lot of effort should stay.
Gabriel Heinze – Not as good as Ramos could get more attacking player, please leave.
Fernando Gago – We need some one like Makélélé or Zindane in the mid feid he is not either of them, please leave.
Wesley Sneijder – Please leave, has not impressed me.
Arjen Robben – Too many touches and too selfish to play for a team like real madrid.
Guti – Over rated please leave.
Diarra – Could improve please stay.
Raúl González – He is still the king for me. Make him the sole forward and give him all the passes and confidence. He struggles now mostly because he tries to pass to other players who are not in the same wave length. Never leave can’t see you play for any other club
Gonzalo Higuaín – Its like a crap shoot with him one game he is all firing and the next he can’t been seen any where near the ball. Wouldn’t mind seeing him leave.
I am writing this after seeing them struggle against liverpool and go down 5-0. Its sad to see a team which reached such heights as 9 champions leagues struggle like this.
Mind you unlike others i have to stake awake upto 3:00 am in the morning to see them play. I don’t mind seeing them lose as long as they play well. Before the galaticos came, fast attacking football with crosses and darting runs and some style. Please bring that back, hope they improve soon.

If you are a new passenger who is for the first time taking a flight. Here are the things to look out for and the procedure of boarding you maiden voyage.
First getting tickets you can get a ticket online or directly at the airport.
Once you buy the ticket online just make a print of it and bring it to airport.
Once you reach airort if you haven’t bought your ticket you can buy it here.
There are trolly like the ones at super markets where you can put your luggage and drag it rather than carrying it like i did.
Keep your photo ID and ticket ready because you will asked for it at the counter and sometimes even at the entrance of the airport.
Once inside check you luggage first, which is just taking you luggage for scanning where it will be scanned and tagged.
Then go to the counter to get your boarding pass. Their you can also check in your luggage.
Once you get it just go and wait for your plane.
Before you are taken to runway they will ask for your boarding pass. You will again be asked for boarding pass when you are about to enter the plane.
You will have to switch off your electronic device while taking off and landing.
Best part about the taking off for me is the speed the plane gets when on runway. It feels like you are in a racing car strapped and all.
Once the place takes off the run way you will definitely feel it. Its pretty similar to the experience you will have when you ride a roller coaster.
If you have a good pilot you will rarely feel the altitude adjustments (plane adjusting its height by either going up or coming down a bit ) which are hard to get used to for the first time.
Same thing goes for the landing. The landing part is pretty staright forward, but the altitude adjustment before the landing is pretty scary for the first time user.
Once you land you will be taken from the run way and you can collect your luggage that was tagged on a conveyer belt like you see in the movies.
Then just walk out of the airport and you are done with the maiden flight.
Which i took recently, Try and fly new airlines like Kingfisher at least for the first time. It make a lot of difference to your first experience. They have new flights even though they cost more than others you will get a better experience out of it.
Pack lightly for the first time, don’t take too many gadgets and things etc.
Don’t eat too much before you fly, if you get motion sickness there is a bag in front of you that you can use to vomit in. To avoid that don’t stuff yourself too much.
Its a special feeling to fly and doing it for the first time is even more special. With prices so cheap you have to fly at least once.

I recently started noticing more and more people are getting married after falling in Love and not the traditional way of arranged marriage.
Why is this happening, why are we seeing more of these marriages ?
Are they just rebelling for the sake of it or is the culture and trends influencing them to do this.
Is it a good thing i am conflicted, i myself married in a Love marriage that was arranged.
Many parent and elders who follow the old traditions think that Love marriages are bad and don’t last long. I know many marriages that have fallen by the way side that were Love marriages. But is it because the Love marriage trend only started recently and so not many success stories to show for. Where as all the marriage that took place in India were arranged marriages until the recent past.
Arrange marriages have their problems too, but not as many as the Love marriage.
I will save my opinion for a few more years.
Let me know what you think is the best way.
